This Is It With Chloe - 3rd November 2009
This Is It With Laura (AGAIN!) - 8th November 2009
Sadly, I couldn't go see This Is It on the day it was released because I was really low on cash. One of my closest friends, Chloe, whom I've known since I was a really little kid, agreed to go with me, seeing as all my other friends didn't seem, shall we say, enthusiastic about it. I said several times that they were missing something great, watching the most amazing man that's ever graced the earth prepare for his final tour. They didn't agree but I'm still defiant and think the people that haven't seen this movie have missed out on a wonderful, bittersweet experience.
We grabbed some seats at the back of the theater and sat through about half an hour of trailers, which was pretty annoying. When the movie began and the music kicked in, I had butterflies. I cried during I'll Be There, I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Earth Song and Man In The Mirror. My favorite performance was either The Way You Make Me Feel or Smooth Criminal. I enjoyed the movie so much that I managed to persuade another friend of mine to go see it with me again on my birthday.
In all, I think This Is It is the best movie of the year. The special effects are nothing short of spectacular and it gives us an insight into what Michael was like not just as a performer, but a person too. He was a perfectionist and he wanted his gift to the world to be amazing, something that nobody had ever experienced before. He wanted to take us all to places that we've never seen before, and hell, he succeeded. As a person, Michael was very laid-back and funny. He was caring, and when he called out to his brothers during the Jackson 5 skit, I tore up again. I'm glad the movie does Michael the justice he so very deserves. I hope now that people will see that he was an amazing human being and half of the things said about him were clearly untrue.
Peace Out,
Bethany Louise.
